Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya, the city’s most happenin’ hotel, recently opened its doors to roll out the red carpet for candidates of Miss Tiffany’s Universe 2006.

Jointly organized by Tiffany’s Show in Pattaya and the Tourist Association of Thailand and warmly supported by Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya, ‘Miss Tiffany’s Universe’ has become a major media event and tourist attraction. The annual pageant showcases the looks and talents of some of Thailand’s most beautiful transsexuals. Bits of footage of the event are usually seen throughout the world, with the 2004 finals earning a feature on CNN.

The candidates thoroughly enjoyed a fun-filled day of activities such as team-building games held at Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya’s lush gardens, along with cool sessions of Hard Rock iconic dances of “Y.M.C.A.” and “Hands Up” at Hard Rock Cafe Pattaya, and a Rocktail-making Course at the Hall of Fame. The hotel’s scenic and action-packed beach-sand pool, Pattaya’s largest at 2000 sqm, also served as the backdrop of a fashionable pictorial for the pageant.

From now till 31 July 2006, The Artists’ Space Café cum Art Gallery at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam is proud play host to an exhibition conceptualized and curated by Faizal Hamid – fashion designer, lecturer and consultant.

As well as being accessible to followers of fashion and design everywhere, this exhibition is an invaluable inspiration for illustrators of all kinds and an essential source of reference. On showcase are 40 pieces of framed fashion illustration artworks done by aspiring fashion designer students.

Hard Rock Hotel Bali has appointed I Putu Eka Tenaya Suryawijaya to be its Executive Chef.

A graduate from Bali’s Hotel and Tourism Institute, Surya’s acquired his extensive experience from several prestigious hotels, including Hyatt Regency Hotel Surabaya, Mandarin Oriental Surabaya and Ritz Carlton Hotel Bali.

In April 1997 Surya joined the opening team of Le Meridien Nirwana Golf and Spa Resort Bali and was promoted to the position of Executive Sous Chef at the Le Meridien Hotel Dubai U.A.E. In 2005 Surya was nominated as a member of the national culinary team at the U.A.E salon culinaire and has been recognized with many achievements during his career.

At the same time, Priyanto is also newly appointed as the hotel’s Training & Development Manager.

Prior to joining Hard Rock Hotel Bali, Priyanto, or “Prie” as he is better known to friends and colleagues, was the Assistant  Personnel & Training Manager at Aston Hotel Jakarta and had also held the position of Corporate Field Trainer at Star Cruises, Malaysia.
