Hard Rock Hotel is swinging big time in Malaysia! Malaysian rock legends and icons, Ella and Zainal Abidin were the first Malaysians to be honoured with their memorabilia on the walls of the new Hard Rock Hotel in Penang. At a setting that very much suited the occasion, (The Guitar Store), the hotel received its first memorabilia from Malaysian legendary rock stars Ella and Zainal Abidin. The jeans and guitar from Ella and the drumsticks and drum from Zainal Abidin will be displayed at the Malaysia’s first Hard Rock Hotel which is scheduled to be opened in Penang on 19 September 2009. This significant event marks the beginning of the hotel's effort in supporting the local music scene.

Die hard music fans will be able to check out pieces of memorabilia from both local and international artists very soon at Hard Rock Hotel Penang. In addition to local memorabilia, the hotel will be featuring more than 500 memorabilia pieces from international artists of different decades and genres, ranging from clothes to instruments, posters, art and photographs, ephemera and gold records. This collection includes the Lucite Precision Guitar from The Who, Red Framus Star Bass Guitar from The Rolling Stones, Hotel California Gold Award Album from The Eagles, outfits from Jon Bon Jovi, portraits of Chuck Berry and Aerosmith's jeans, to name a few.

Spreading the devotion towards music, Hard Rock Hotel Penang will also be embarking on other various philanthropic acts to support the growth of local music. As part of a global effort, Hard Rock has been committed to a wide variety of philanthropic causes and activities around the world.
