At the recent "Anugerah Sukan Negara", or National Sports Awards event that was held at the Juara Stadium Bukit Kiara, Concorde Hotel Shah Alam was proud to be the official caterer.
The King of Malaysia (Seri Paduka Baginda Yg DiPertuan Agong) graced the event to give away the awards for National Sportsman & Sportswoman of the Year 2006. Among the dignitaries present were Sultan of Perak, Youth & Sports Minister of Malaysia, Dato Azalina Othman Said and Olympic Council of Malaysia President, Tan Sri Tengku Imran Tuanku Jaafar.
This was the first time that the hotel handled the catering for this event, which saw about 700 attendees comprising of VIPs, senior government officials, sportsmen and sportswomen.
The F&B team at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam started the planning for this event as early as one month before. The sit-down dinner featured a menu that consisted of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Nonya specialities, including a soup, six main dishes, rice and two different types of desserts.
All dishes were cooked on-site by 20 in-house chefs and cooks. The event also required good co-ordination of logistics as the food and equipment had to be transported by several catering trucks, including chillers trucks and lorries. A total of 100 staff were involved in this catering event, including the hotel’s own in-house employees and joint part-timers from sister-property, Concorde Hotel KL.
Despite the challenging task of having to cater to so many guests all at the same time, the F&B team, which is experienced in handling such large-scale outdoor catering, managed it all without any difficulty to make it yet another successful event. |
