A day with Kalai – Guest Services Manager at The Lakehouse, Cameron Highlands

For guests who have visited the Lakehouse would remember the warmth and friendly smile that welcomed them the moment they stepped in.

1) How long have you been with the company?
# I started work at The Lakehouse in April 1990 as a F&B Waitress and was promoted to F&B Captain in January 1995. In September 1996, I was transferred to Front Desk and was later prmoted to Senior Front Desk Assistant in November 1997. I was again promoted to Guest Services Supervisor in December 2004 and last December, I became the Guest Services Manager.

2) What is a typical working day like for you?
# Checking of the daily income report, arrivals for the day, reply to reservations, check email, update inventories of internet partners, conduct staff training, and of course interacting with guests.

3) What do you love most about your job?
# It gives me an opportunity to be exposed to people of different culture, learn their habits and as well as build up my confidence.

4) Interesting thing you've encounter or come across so far?
# I had an opportunity to serve the royalty & dignitaries.

5) What do you like to do during your free time?
# Attend to household chores, guiding my children in their school work, helping my spouse in his business and reading magazines.

6) How do you juggle between family and work?
# The most important factor in balancing between my work and family is getting the fullest support and understanding from my immediate family.
